Recycle that old Laptop!
Top Tip - Recycle that old Laptop
Dropped your old laptop? Screen just packed up? Keyboard lost a couple of keys?
Don't throw it away, or pop it on eBay just yet...it may seem obvious, but how about using the old laptop as a regular system unit?
Any laptop with a couple of USB ports can have an external mouse and keyboard attached (even wireless which makes it even easier!) and an external monitor.
As long as the laptop boots (loads) into Windows, then just hide the laptop itself in a cupboard (say in a kitchen - one of the corner units where you don't go that often is ideal). Provide power, and a network connection (use wireless if possible - if the laptop isn't wireless enabled then use either a wireless USB dongle, or a homeplug - both are ideal to connect you to your router.
On the counter (in the above kitchen scenario) you have your keyboard, mouse (or combo laptop style with mousepad!) and the monitor - a big 21" will look damn impressive - and you have a multimedia station in your kitchen - ideal for catchup TV (iPlayer, 4OD etc), YouTube, Spotify etc etc etc. Let alone doing the online grocery shopping...
And all this from £50 worth of old, knackered laptop - for the cost of a monitor (say £120) and keyboard and mouse (£20).
It's almost worth getting on eBay and buying an old broken laptop just for the purpose!
